Finally....my mud run post!
Here's our team, Down n' Dirty Divas, while we waited for the race to start.
KellyAnn, Rebecca, Ashley, Me, and Lyndee
The wait for it to begin nearly killed me! I was nervous, not really sure what to expect, and just wanted to get going!
Our time slot was 3:30 and it was SO hot! There were several obstacles that aren't pictured here because they were not near the spectator viewing area. The hay bale climb, wall climb, mud crawl, and hanging tire obstacles were in the beginning of the race. As we got closer to the spectators (our families), Ashley's husband and Big Sis were able to get pictures of us.
At this point in the race I was so tired and hot. I didn't know how much I had left in me. I had no idea the last few obstacles were just around the corner and we were almost to the finish line! Then I heard my little Curly-Q yell, "GO MOM! You're doing good on your mud run!" And they all ran along side of me and encouraged me. That's just what I needed to finish!
I have no clue what this obstacle was. We were weaving in and out and going over and under strings. All I knew was it was shady and I was glad!
From that point on, AJ ran along side of me and took pictures until the end! She was so awesome and got some great shots of us.
We made it to the top of the cargo net and it was so tricky getting over the top! It was so high! I kept thinking, Kelli, do not fall. It is a very long way down to the ground.
That's me on the right coming down the hill.
We went back up to the top through the woods and then we were in the home stretch! We decided to slide into the last mud pit and it was by far the funniest (and most painful) part of the day.
That mud pit was actually no pit at all. It was like a thin plastic sheet over the road with a little mud and water. We basically slide onto the pavement. I knew the minute I hit that I had hurt my knee, but the excitement of finishing was so much greater than the pain at that moment.
We did it! I actually did it!
What an experience! Something I will never forget and am very proud of!
The DDD victory jump at the finish line. Obviously, I can't jump, my timing was off, the mud was weighing me down or something!
And Curly-Q had to get in there and jump at the finish line also.
After the race, we all went to McDonald's. And let me tell you, McDonald's has never tasted so good. By the time, we got there, my knee had a huge knot on it. My body was so tired that night, but my mind was working overtime. I laid there in bed for so long just thinking and feeling my knee throb. And the next day, I was sore and bruised, but it was amazing. Every time I moved and felt the soreness, I couldn't help but smile at the experience and think about doing it all over again next year. Who is with me???
