A Day at Auburn

We spent the weekend in Auburn, Alabama a couple weeks ago. We stayed in these cabins at the state park which worked out perfectly for us. What a gorgeous view. Alabama is such a beautiful state!

Saturday morning we went to Auburn for the A Day festivities. Everyone got all dressed up in their blue and orange and off we went. It was such a nice day with perfect weather.

Little Man was running a fever and draggy all day. He was a good sport though and did pretty well.

She loved running on the lawn! She did the funniest thing. We had to walk a long way to the stadium and she was just quietly walking along as we passed people. There was an elderly couple on a bench watching us as we went by and she looked right at them and said, "WAR EAGLE!!" and just kept on walking.

Our view of the crowd gathered for the unveiling of the Heisman statues for Cam Newton, Bo Jackson, and Pat Sullivan. Wish we could have gotten a closer look at Cam! I'm surprised we couldn't see his white teeth from where we were.

Best part of the day was when we were stopped on the side of a street to take a picture and Aubie came flying by in a golf cart. Glad I had my camera in hand and ready to go or I'd have never caught this picture.

Then we were walking to another part of the campus and there he was! Sister spotted him by a building and only a few people were gathered around. He was posing with people and letting them take pictures. Well, that just made our trip to Auburn. That is what my kids wanted to see most of all! And I'm so proud of my boy, he just smiled and didn't even try to bite him like he said he would.

They had some kid's activities going on so we hung out in that area for a bit.
Buddy was not feeling well at all and fading fast!

Curly was just thrilled to get a picture with one of the cheerleaders!

Curly and Little Man got their faces painted and then we ate lunch on the lawn.

After lunch, Grandmother and I took the little ones back to the cabin. I knew my little guy was not up to hanging out at the football game. And poor thing, he was burning up by the time we got back to the cabin. So like any good Mom would do, I let my sick son eat a cupcake before his nap. Poor thing...so pitiful!

He slept twenty minutes and woke up screaming for his Dad. He screamed for eighty minutes (yes, I was counting) and I could not console him. Curly-Q must have been completely exhausted because she slept through it all. Once she woke up, we went outside and then decided to go back to the stadium and see the fans on the football field. I figured we'll either sit here and listen to him scream or we'll go find his Dad and he'll be happy.

To be continued...
