Yellow jackets seem to really like our yard this year! They really like my husband too. Poor Guy! He has stepped on or near two nests while doing yard work and has been stung repeatedly. We killed the nests and dug one of them up.
It was pretty big and very deep. It just fell apart as we dug it up so it was hard to see the entire nest.
So, yellow jackets and nests have obviously been the topic of many conversations around here lately. And you know, little ears don't miss much. Curly has asked a lot of questions and has been very concerned that they keep stinging her Daddy. And over the past week or so, she is often pretending to be a yellow jacket herself.
The other day she was running through the house and her brother was chasing her. She was giggling and saying, "Help! I am being chased by a yellow jacket."
She also refers to them as wasp-ezzz.
I threw a pile of laundry onto the couch and the little ones started digging through it and rolling in it. She said, "We are jellow jackets! We are making our home here. We are building a nest."
When TV time was over the other day, I asked her to turn the TV off. She started laughing and said, "Mom! We are jellow jackets! Yellow jackets do not know how to turn TVs off!"
She keeps me on my toes for sure!
